Italian says that he could deal ok with temperature change from desert races

giovanni viscontiItalian champion Giovanni Visconti (Farnese Neri) took the victory in the 168-kilometer long GP Insubrica, formerly known as GP dell'Insubria - Lugano. Visconti beat Jure Kocjan (Team Type 1) and Rinaldo Nocentini (AG2r) on a crisp day in Italy.

Visconti was happy with the first win of the season. "It shows that the work done in Qatar and Oman is paying off," he said after the race. "Despite the temperature change [from around 30 degrees centigrade to ten degrees] I felt good. I finished off the work that the team had done for me earlier."

Visconti said the course suited him well. "The final was perfect for my characteristics." An early season win is always good. "It gives me morale for the RCS races, which will be my first major objectives for the season."

Visconti also appreciated the sacrifices by his family and dedicated his win to them. "I missed them for the last 22 days when I was abroad," he said. At the same time, he wanted to dedicate it to his Farnese Neri team. "We really are a fantastic group. The work by Luca [Scinto, director -ed.] in the two training camps could be felt. We hope to continue with other satisfactory results."

Visconti will race the GP Lugano tomorrow and then the RCS races. "I will do l'Eroica, then Tirreno and Sanremo. I am not going to conceal anything - these are races where I need to and want to make an impression."
