Romain Feillu (Vacansoleil) sprinted to victory in the Tour du Finistère, ahead of Armindo Fonseca (Bretagne Schuller) and Sandy Casar (Française des Jeux). On his birthday, the sprinter profited from the leading group being caught two kilometers before the finish.
Feillu was perfectly launched by Mirko Selvaggi and finished off the team's work with a strong kick to the line. The win gives Feillu the lead in the Coupe de France competition, on the day that he celebrated his 27th birthday.
A team of five, including Vacansoleil rider Frederik Veuchelen, dominated the day. Eventually, a trio with Sebastien Joly (Saur-Sojasun), Cyril Gautier (Europcar) and Laurent Pichon (Bretagne-Schuller) was left over. They were caught shortly before the finish, with Joly making one final desperate attempt, according to Radsport News. But the peloton was too eager to bring it back for a sprint, paving the way for Feillu.
