Russian team Katusha has replaced Italians Filippo Pozzato and Luca Paolini with Russians Pavel Brutt and Eduard Vorganov for the upcoming Giro d'Italia (May 7 - 29). The management is putting all its efforts behind Joaquím Rodriguez with regards to the overall classification, according to Radsport News.
Pozzato's contract ends end of the season. He has also been criticized by team manager Andrei Tchmil for his lack of results. Earlier in the month it was speculated that Pozzato could join the Lampre team.
Pozzato won Milano-Sanremo in 2006, but hasn't always lived up to his potential. While he still has won other races, like the Omloop Het Volk, he could never win another one of the big ones. He was runner-up in the 2008 version of Milano-Sanremo and finished second also in the 2009 Paris-Roubaix. His best result this year was the fifth place in Milano-Sanremo.
