Will miss Tour de France participation

David Le LayAG2r La Modiale rider David Le Lay has fractured his left clavicle and will be out of competition for more than a month.  The Frenchman hit the pavement hard while racing in the Grand Prix de Plumelec resulting in the injury.  His team said Le Lay underwent a successful operation yesterday in St Brieuc.

This isn't the first time the Breton has had trouble with his collarbone.  Last year he crashed out of the Tour de France, where he also required surgery.

"It's a little difficult, especially since my last operation wasn't very long ago," he replied when asked about the situation.  "I should leave the hospital Tuesday or Wednesday and begin to recover at home."

With his expected return to the peloton no sooner than 30 to 45 days, Le Lay will miss this year's Tour de France.  He finished seventh overall in the Circuit de Lorraine last weekend, demonstrating that he would have been on track for a solid ride in his home Tour.
