VeloNation blogger Tiffany Cromwell has used the mid-season transfer window to join the Hitec Products-UCK team. The 22-year-old Australian has been with the Lotto Honda Team since August last year but by mutual agreement has decided to leave for the Norwegian team.
Cromwell has had a mixed season so far. She finished sixth in the Australian National Championships, then eighth in the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad in her first European race of the season; illness and crashes prevented her from performing in the spring races though.
Her best result of 2010 was second place in the Sparkassen Giro, her first with the Lotto Ladies, but in 2009 she won stages in the Tour of Limousin and the Route de France, riding for the Australian national team, as well as the Sea Otter Classic, riding for former team Colavita-Sutter Home p/b Cooking Light.
Hitec Products-UCK’s line up is otherwise almost completely Scandinavian, and is built around the all-round talent of Swedish champion Emma Johansson. The addition of Cromwell will give the team “another card to play in the races”, according to the team’s statement.
“We are sure she will strengthen our team in the hard race programme that we are expecting in the near future,” it continues.
As a strong time triallist and climber, Cromwell is hoping to develop into a general classification rider in stage races, although she is also known as a good classics rider.
