Canadian pro has recovered from broken collarbone

Dominique RollinNow recovered from the broken collarbone he sustained on the final stage of the Four Days of Dunkirk, Dominique Rollin will make his return to competition when he leads a Canadian national team in the next week’s Tour de Beauce.

The 28 year old usually competes with the Française des Jeux squad, but will join up with Rob Britton (Bissell Pro cycling Team) and Nic Hamilton (Jelly Belly Cycling Team), who both rode the recent Amgen Tour of California. The seven-man squad will be completed by Jacob Schwingboth, Cody Campbell, Adam Thuss and Cody Canning.

Rollin is itching to get back to competing. “After a few tough weeks of doing rollers inside when it was +30 and sunny outside, I just got back on my bike outside on the roads,” he said. “I am seeing my form coming back quickly.

“I am really excited to come back to racing, and there is not a better way for me to comeback in a race that I truly enjoy and know, the Tour de Beauce.”

The 2.2-ranked six day race begins on Tuesday June 14th with a 165 kilometre stage at Lac Etchemin. Four other road stages follow, as well as a 20 kilometre time trial.

Matthew Knight, road coordinator at the Canadian Cycling Association, said that the team would have a ‘high calibre’ Canadian presence. He’s clear on what the goal for the seven riders will be. “We will be looking to achieve our goal of scoring UCI America Tour points to improve Canada’s ranking,” he stated.

Rollin is best known for his Tour of California stage victory of three years ago. He won a stage of the Tour de Beauce back in 2005.
