Jérôme Pineau (Quick Step) won the GP Jef Scherens - Rondom Leuven after 183 kilometers, beating Kenny Dehaes and Pineau's teammate Guillaume Van Keirsbulck. It was the first win for Pineau since stage five of the 2010 Giro d'Italia.
Pineau and Bert Scheirlinckx attacked inside the final kilometer, according to Sporza. The Belgian was unable to keep it up, but Pineau managed to hitn the line just ahead of the bunch. They had come so close that the peloton was given the same time as Pineau.
An early move by Michail Ignatiev, Philipp Walsleben and Mickaël Delage was brought at kilometer 125 in the 183-kilometer race. A dangerously large 27-rider break developed. From this group, six riders broke clear 30 kilometers from the line, with three more following a little bit later.
Björn Leukemans later also joined in , thinking this would be the one. Leukemans was the one who went away from this ten-man move, together with Laurens De Vreese. But their gap never went past 15 seconds, and were caught with one kilometer to go.
This was a signal for Pineau and Scheirlinckx toi make their move, with the Frenchman getting his first win of the season.
