Norwegian stars hoping for good public interest in Tour de France-related auction
Following an auction last month which successfully raised much-needed funds for Save the Children Norway’s work in East Africa, more pro riders have contributed signed items to another online charity auction.
Norwegian Tour de France winners Thor Hushovd and Edvald Boasson Hagen have both donated items from this year’s Tour. Hushovd has signed the world champion’s rainbow jersey he used during the race, while Boasson Hagen has signed his race number.
Details of the auction are listed here:(click link)
As the listing is in Norwegian, overseas bidders should contact Mona at Save the Children Norway for further details and to bid. She can be reached at mona.skaalevik@hotmail.com
East Africa has been affected by a severe drought and it is believed that more than a million children could die in Somalia. Over 12 million in total are affected by the crisis.
“Increasing numbers of children from Somalia are arriving on their own at the huge refugee camp in Dadaab, Kenya,” stated a spokesman from Save the Children Norway. “Some parents, out of desperation, have abandoned their babies. Save the Children is on the ground saving lives. We’re rapidly providing food, water, medicine and crucial support to families who have lost their incomes. But millions of children need help and we urgently need more funds to reach them.”
For those interested in bidding for these two Tour items, it’s important to move quickly; the auctions end early Monday morning, and so Mona Skaalevik should be contacted today.
VeloNation wishes you luck with the bidding; thanks for supporting this worthwhile initiative.
